This charming place is the perfect example of authenticity, with a majestic plane tree and several benches where the village elders like to sit and chat.
From the northeastern side of the square, a charming path starts leading to the Vallone dell'Obaco and Valle d'Ischia. This path winds among ancient farms and dry stone walls, evidence of the skill of the local inhabitants. Along the way, you can admire the extensive cultivation of olive trees, with plants climbing up to 800 meters above sea level, framed by ancient farmhouses and historic cisterns.
The name of this locality derives from an old artificial pond, which in the past collected rainwater used to drive the mill located in the nearby locality of Mole. Until a few decades ago, an old ruin of the village mill could still be seen where the municipal house stands today. Parish records of the time even record tragic events related to the pond, such as the drowning deaths of several teenagers.
